I originally grew up in St. Cloud, MN, but went to high school in Two Harbors, MN which is about a half hour north of Duluth. Then I went to Concordia College in Moorhead, MN and graduated with a degree in Math Education (grades 5-12) in 2012.

In addition to math, I love music and actually started college out as a double education major in math and music. I have played 6 instuments in my lifetime and still play the piano regularly. Other hobbies include photography, rollerblading, reading, downhill skiing, and playing xbox. I also enjoy trying new things with people who are passionate about them.

Eventually though, I realized it would take me too much time and money to do two teaching degrees and chose math. I have always loved math, but I particularly enjoy problem solving and think that the ability to think critically is one of the greatest skills math offers. My goal as a teacher is to give students life skills that they will use throughout their lives. Sometimes that will be directly in the math and sometimes it will come from how the students think about the math, how they solve problems. I also hope to be a resource to help students achieve whatever goals they have as well as being an encouraging presence in their lives.
